Chapter 1
One day, I received a letter containing my grandfather’s will in handing over his farm to me. The place was on the countryside in a small quite community called Mineral Town, a breakaway destination from the stress of the modern life.
When I arrived in the farm, it was visibly empty although the structures are still in good condition aside from the farm plot which was overgrown by weeds. The mayor said he was taking care of the farm in my grandfather’s place and is waiting for me to take it over from him which I gladly accepted.
I remember my time with my grandfather as a kid, playing all day in the farm. I even made a friend in the end... sad to say he's gone.
I woke up the next day in my new little home, In the past (HM-FMT) this used to look more like a miserable shack, I guess the house got a little bit better than the last time. It has free cabinet too, you have to order for this stuff through the telephone back then. I see that the TV screen still preserved the pixel graphics for its programs.
I tried to go outside and found Mayor Thomas already waiting for me at the front door. He seems worried about me on my first day and offer me some tips on how to get started. Zack also came to the farm to remind me about the shipments. If you don’t know Zack, he’s a well known courier in town who transport everyone’s goods to sell. In the past he used to to look more like a tanned muscular Asian guy, I don’t really mind the changes though.
While walking around the forest I met a girl that I've never seen before. Her name is Jennifer and judging from the heart UI, she must be a new bachelorette. She wore some kind of a nomad attire? a cultural/religious one? I'm not really sure but I wonder where she lives though, she sound nice.
The hill where the mine and the hot spring is supposed to be is gone, the area was flattened and connected by a small downward staircase. There’s also a tent on the side of the lake, a camping ground perhaps? I didn’t try to enter and see who it was as I was busy mapping the entire area to look for anything to sell before the 5 o’clock PM shipping time.
After running around the forest, I went a bit further north to a well known patch, where flowers tend to grow. I plucked a bunch and went to the waterfall and gave it to the Goddess, who seems delighted by the offering. I’m not sure if everyone knows her but in my previous life, she ran a brief TV program during the first few days of spring where you play some games with her and get some rewards. If you’re wondering how you can play games with her through the television, then it’s because she is a Goddess and she is using her divine powers to make that happen obviously. So does giving her flowers everyday have some merits to it? Yes, there are some rewards if you do it consecutively but my intentions for it is purely thanksgiving for a good harvest.
I went home and unloaded my goods to the shipping bin before hitting the bed to call it a day. I didn’t earn much after all of that but at least earned something and it's better than nothing. I already expected it when it comes to foraging, you just don’t make enough from it. I know but I don't have a choice, I had to do all these stuff initially until I can buy seeds and start earning for real through farming. No need to rush or anything.
